Quality Assurance is the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank's most flexible opportunity available, so it's no wonder that this opportunity is a lot of people's go-to! What is Quality Assurance? Quality Assurance, or Warehouse Quality Assurance, is an opportunity in which volunteers help sort, categorize, and check both packaging as well as dates on different items - food and otherwise. These items get moved and are made available for our pantries; the pantries then distribute it back out into the community. The catch? Quality Assurance REQUIRES volunteers to first take a Volunteer Orientation; these orientations usually introduce volunteers to the food bank and show them how we implement a form of quality control so that we can ensure the safety of the donations that come into the facility.

Quality Assurance is arguably our most flexible opportunity making it perfect for those seeking to fulfill community service hours. However, as stated above, Volunteer Orientation is necessary for participation. Furthermore, all community service must be approved first by the Volunteer Coordinator, Dominique Thomas.

The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is accepting volunteers seeking to fulfill community service hours. All community service must first be approved by the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure it follows within the guidelines of the FRFB's policy.

Below is an easy 3 step process for approaching community service with the FRFB:

  1. Register as a volunteer; registering as a volunteer and using our system to track your hours will allow us to have the information we need in order to verify your hours of completion. It is imperative that volunteers sign in and out to properly track their hours!

  2. Verify via email or in person that your charge is within our policy and that your hours can be completed with us.

  3. Attend an orientation; this is only necessary for our Quality Assurance opportunity.

Once you've completed your desired/required community service hours, you will get a printed or emailed letter of verification ONLY UPON REQUEST.

If you have any questions or concerns about community service, please feel free to email dthomas@fredfood.org

We understand that these methods may delay you from reaching your desired hours or may be troublesome overall, but we assure you we do not mean to inconvenience you in any way and are simply trying to follow protocol.
