Volunteer: Community Outreach Event - Picnic In The Park @ Memorial (Kenmore) ParkWe need 2 volunteers - MUST have basic knowledge of FRFB's volunteering, programs, practices, and guidelines. Picnic in the Park is an annual meet up hosted by Fredericksburg Parks & Rec on Tuesdays during the months of May and June at Memorial Park, 11:30am-1:30pm. This event connects the youth (and their families) with each other and local businesses in the area. Every vendor (profit and non-profit) provides an activity for the youth to participate in when they visit each vendor's tent. As an FRFB volunteer, you will be offering box decorating to anyone (including adults) who would like to decorate boxes to be used for our assembly line box packs (TEFAP, CSFP, OrderAhead, School Pantry, Summer Nutrition). For the purpose of this event, we provide crafting supplies such as markers, crayons, color pencils, and stickers. However, we invite the families to take boxes home to decorate with their own supplies, and then drop them back off at one of our locations. Details: * Lead volunteer will be responsible for picking up the tabling supplies and equipment from FRFB prior to the event: 1 folding table, 4 metal chairs, 1 tent, 1 FRFB tablecloth, 1 plain plastic tablecloth to protect our tablecloth, FRFB marketing material, FRFB giveaways, 4 bundles of boxes to be decorated, and decorating supplies. * Must arrive at Memorial (Kenmore) Park no later than 11am to set up. They will allow you to pull into the driveway area to offload if needed, and then find street parking, or you are permitted to park in church parking lot across the street. * Both volunteers will be responsible for offloading equipment and supplies, set up, and breakdown. * Volunteers will engage the youth and adults in decorating boxes (onsite and take home), as well as briefly mention volunteering @ FRFB for the youth and adults. * We encourage volunteers to network with other vendors to see how we (FRFB) may be able to partner with them in the future. This is also a great opportunity to network on your personal behalf as well. * This is an outdoor event - please dress according to the weather.
