Club Y.E.A.H.: Holiday Card Creations, AT-HOME PROJECT

Expired

Description

**This opportunity is only for the YOUTH (17 and under). This does not count towards community service hours.

Help bring cheer to a Neighbor's day - right from your home or classroom!! We are looking for Club YEAH (Youth Ending All Hunger) volunteers and their families to make holiday cards for our neighbors who receive monthly food boxes through our CSFP (Commodities Supplemental Food Program), TEFAP (The Emergency Feeding Assistance Program), OrderAhead, and now extended to our general population via distributions and pantry pickups. Our neighbors are often left without family, companionship, and joy, especially during the holidays. These holiday cards will be a wonderful gesture to brighten their day as they open their food boxes and bags, and poof... there's a handmade holiday greeting waiting for them. Our goal is to have the children make a collective total of 1,500 Holiday Cards between November 3rd, and December 8th in which we will include in December's monthly CSFP and TEFAP food boxes, OrderAhead program, distributions, and pantry pickups. They can be designed and decorated however you choose to get creative - add glitter, stickers, puffy shapes, pictures, cut-outs, magazine clips, rolly-eyes, etc. There is no limit on how many cards each youth and their family units can make. We just want you to help us reach our goal and HAVE FUN!

** All holiday card supplies will be provided by the volunteer(s). Each card must be 14x10 or smaller and must be dropped off to Dominique Thomas at Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, by Monday, December 10th.

All time spent making the holiday cards must be accounted for. Please make sure you register on our website as a volunteer FIRST. Once done, log in and go to our volunteer opportunity page, choose "Holiday Card Creations", and scroll down to view/register your hours for the available shift(s).  The times(shifts) do not have to be exact and it can be done before or after you work on the cards each time - we just need to keep a record of how much time each person spent volunteering on this project (i.e. - if an adult helps the child make the cards, both the adult and the child must have a separate registration/log-in on our website, and reflect the amount of time spent on making the cards each time.)

If you have any questions or need additional guidance, please contact Dominique Thomas at 540-371-7666 Ext. 131.

We thank each and every one of you in advance for your willingness to extend yourself to a neighbor through your efforts. A smile and a hug expressed in a holiday card is an excellent means to ensuring that our neighbors know that we care about them.

** This opportunity does not count towards court-ordered community service hours.
