Youth FARM DAY @ Rappahannock Education Farm - Ages 17 and Under!
Volunteers may help with prepping the soil for planting, weeding, distributing woodchips and mulch, watering the land, planting seeds, tilling, composting, removing debris, harvesting, gleaning (if needed), and other general farming duties as assigned.
* No excessive cell phone use (texting, playing games, phone calls)
* Bring your own chairs and water
* Physical labor is involved
* Dress according to the weather.
* Parent or guardian must accompany youth volunteers who are 14 years old and under
* We must have a signed Youth Consent Form on file for each child, 17 and under, prior to volunteering. If we don't have one on file, please email dthomas@fredfood.org to request one. Once completed, it needs to be emailed back to me via scan or picture.
- Volunteers 10 years old and up: must have their own volunteer account and be signed up for a shift.
- Volunteers 9 years old and under: parent or guardian must sign up for a shift on behalf of their children.
* Must wear close-toed shoes (no slippers)
* No inappropriate clothing (halter/crop tops, spaghetti-strapped tops, pajamas, short shorts, or anything too revealing of your personal areas, including your midriff)
Driving instructions:
TURN ON FIRST STREET, NOT Davis Street, as GPS instructs.1122 White Oak Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405 - when you enter this address into your GPS, it will take you next to the farm and direct you to turn onto Davis Street. DO NOT Turn on Davis Street from White Oak Road; instead, turn onto First Street (the street before Davis). Then, drive about 500 yards to the entry to our farm. * First Street is the turn after the white trucks on your right. After you turn, come straight down the long, bumpy road and make your first left into the farm area. The farm is part of/adjacent to 1122 White Oak Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405.
