Rappahannock Education Farm 2026 Info Session @ Howell Library

Description

Volunteers will attend an educational info session to reflect on 2025 and discuss the planning and goals for 2026, including increased harvests, new structures, and monthly education classes.

Looking ahead to 2026, we're excited by the potential.
Barn and Greenhouse: Early in 2026 we will have a much needed barn and also a greenhouse that will enable us to grow and donate more produce during colder weather months. A few of us may be at the Farm this week preparing for installation of the greenhouse which will take place the first full week of January.
Educational Programming: This is still being developed, but we plan to offer classes throughout the year that will improve gardening skills for those who want to grow some of their own food. Our first 2025 educational program will be on Saturday January 10 at 3:30 PM at the Howell Library where we will review our 2025 experience and provide a preview of our plans for 2026. All are welcome.
Increased Harvests: We have a goal for 2026 of growing and donating 60,000 pounds of fresh produce to reduce hunger and food insecurity in our community. This is definitely a stretch goal, but we want to challenge ourselves to meet as much of the need in our community as possible. Our eventual goal is to grow and donate 100,000 pounds annually.
