Volunteers sort fresh produce (fruits and vegetables) to ensure its quality is within our standards for redistribution and can safely be consumed by our neighbors. Volunteers will be checking (where applicable) for secure packages, food quality dates, food quality, and sorting into boxes to keep or to discard. Volunteers may also be asked to box sorted food for orders, stock shelves, and perform general warehouse maintenance.
REFRIGERATED PRODUCTS: Items in the cooler consist of mostly produce, prepackaged prepared meals, and dairy products. These foods require immediate attention for rapid distribution back into the community. Many times, after food safety and condition of food have been verified by the volunteer, the items are bagged to ensure swift distribution to our neighbors.
